The manufacturer recommends placing the chlorinator close to the pool's return jet fitting. This is the eyeball where the water enters back into the pool after passing through the filter system.
Please refer to the Manufacturer's Installation & Safety Instructions on Page 3 where it references the installation location: "Locate an area of the pool which has an easy access to a GFCI outlet. This product will work best if installed in close proximity to the pool return, which is an outlet where water is returned to the pool after going through the filter system"
