Does the heater require an external water pump?
AquaPro ECO550 50K BTU Electric Heat Pump
In the installation instructions, item #4 is "The heater needs an appended pump (Supplied by the user)"; however, the piping diagram on page 5 shows the pipes connecting directly to the heater without an external pump. I'm unsure of whether I now need to purchase an external pump for the heater.

The external pump referenced in the instruction manual for the AquaPro ECO550 50K BTU Electric Heat Pump is the pump from your filter system. All pool heaters, including the AquaPro pool heater, necessitate a filter system with a pump to function effectively. Water must circulate through the filter and pump, then pass through the AquaPro heat pump, before returning to the pool. The AquaPro heat pump activates only when there's sufficient water flow going through the unit.
