After cleaning the filter, make sure the o-ring is clean and properly seated in its groove before reinstalling the lid. Applying a small amount of pool-safe lubricant can help hold the o-ring in place and create a better seal. When putting the lid back on, tighten it evenly and avoid twisting or pinching the o-ring. If the o-ring appears cracked, stretched, or damaged, it should be replaced.
