It is not recommended to use the dirt that was removed during excavation for backfilling, especially if it contains small rocks. The pool manufacturer recommends sand or dry sifted soil with no rocks or sharp objects as backfill material. Backfill must be graded away from the pool 10°.
It is recommended to place a protective barrier against the pool wall before backfilling. Roofing rubber or tar paper are excellent choices. Use only clean, dry, sifted soil or sand for backfilling. Avoid placing any acidic rocks against the pool wall, especially white colored rocks.
