Saltwater systems are popular for their low-maintenance convenience, but salt can be corrosive to metal pool components. That is why The Pool Factory’s saltwater pool models feature corrosion-resistant materials for added durability. In this guide, we compare our saltwater above ground and semi-inground pool models to help you choose the best option for your backyard.
The Pool Factory offers nine pool models warrantied for saltwater use: the Saltwater Edge, Saltwater 5000 Lazer, Saltwater 8000, Saltwater LX, Saltwater Twilight, Saltwater Titan, Saltwater Aurora, Saltwater Defender, and the Intrepid. These nine models fall into three construction categories: steel-wall models with resin components and a stainless steel skimmer panel, full resin wall and resin framed pools, and our extruded aluminum interlocking slat-wall Intrepid pool.
Saltwater Models with a Stainless Steel Service Panel and Resin Frame
The Pool Factory offers six saltwater-compatible pool models that feature a steel wall with corrosion-resistant resin components: the Saltwater LX, Saltwater Edge, Saltwater 8000, Saltwater Titan, Saltwater 5000 Lazer, and the Saltwater Twilight. Although there are differences in these components, each of these models features resin top ledges, resin top and bottom tracks, resin top joiner plates, and resin bottom connectors. Resin components cannot rust or corrode over time, making resin features especially important for use with a saltwater system. Additionally, these models are warrantied for semi-inground installation of up to halfway in the ground.
Stainless Steel Skimmer Panel for Added Corrosion Protection
One of the most important features of all six of these models is a stainless steel skimmer panel. The skimmer and return openings are the most common areas for leaks to develop over time. Because saltwater can accelerate corrosion, these saltwater models feature a stainless steel panel in the skimmer and return area for added protection where it matters most.

Comparing Our Stainless Steel Panel Saltwater Pool Models
Although the Saltwater 5000 Lazer, Saltwater Edge, Saltwater 8000, Saltwater LX, Saltwater Titan, and Saltwater Twilight share the same core saltwater-resistant features, their frame designs vary. The Saltwater Titan and Saltwater Twilight feature resin uprights, while the other models feature steel uprights with protective finishes. Top ledge and upright dimensions also vary between models. Three of the models feature curved injection-molded resin top ledges, offering the strongest type of resin construction that is often preferred by customers building decks because of their rounded appearance. The other three models feature extruded resin top ledges, offering a more traditional straight-edge profile.

Saltwater Models Featuring a Full Resin Wall
The Saltwater Aurora and Saltwater Defender are two exclusive, premium pool models that take corrosion resistance to the next level. Both models feature a full resin composite wall and a full resin frame that is completely corrosion resistant. While some pools advertised as "resin pools" may only feature resin components paired with a steel wall, these two models are true full resin swimming pools.
This exclusive Resin Composite Wall utilizes a multi-layer reinforced polymer design that is 100% corrosion-resistant. Additionally, the tracks, ledges, and uprights are injection molded resin, the strongest type of resin material. Both models are backed by a full manufacturer’s lifetime warranty for added long-term peace of mind. The Saltwater Aurora and the Saltwater Defender are warrantied for semi-inground installation up to halfway (27 inches) into the ground.
Structurally, the Saltwater Aurora and Saltwater Defender are the same pool. The only difference between the two models is the color, allowing customers to choose the appearance that best fits their backyard.

Intrepid - Extruded Aluminum Pool With Interlocking Wall
The Intrepid is unlike any other pool model we carry. Instead of a traditional one-piece rolled wall, it features 54" high rigid, interlocking extruded aluminum wall panels. This slat-wall construction creates an exceptionally strong and rigid structure, making the Intrepid our strongest pool design and an ideal option for semi-inground installations. Proudly made in the USA, it can be installed fully above ground or up to 36 inches semi-inground, providing greater installation flexibility than any of our other pool models.
The pool also features heavy-grade extruded aluminum top ledges, uprights, and tracks for added strength and long-term durability. Each aluminum component is protected with a durable powder-coated finish to help maintain its appearance while providing additional protection against the elements. Aluminum is naturally corrosion resistant, making the Intrepid especially well suited for saltwater use and outdoor environments. Stainless steel hardware provides additional resistance against corrosion and harsh weather conditions.
The Intrepid includes a manufacturer’s lifetime limited warranty and is warrantied for use with saltwater systems.
