Below is a list of recommended weekly pool maintenance items from the staff at The Pool Factory. This article also contains a few items that if purchased will drastically reduce your amount of time maintaining you’re above ground pool.

Remove leaves and debris from both the skimmer basket and the strainer-housing basket.

Use a leaf skimmer to remove any leaves that have fallen within the pool.

Vacuum the pool to remove any dirt or debris from the floor of the liner. See our blog How to Manually Vacuum Your Pool for more detailed instructions.

Note filter pressure and backwash if necessary. For cartridge filter, rinse cartridge with filter cleaner and garden hose. (This step only needs to be completed every other week)

Check the pool’s water level and adjust accordingly. The second screw from the top of the skimmer is a good marker to see if you need to add or drain any water.

If pool water is cloudy or a tint of green, add 1 pound of shock per 5,000 gallons (according to manufacturers label instructions).
